What is the Day Lewis Community Engagement Week?
The Day Lewis Annual Community Engagement Week (Previously named Charity Day) was created over 30yrs ago, to mark our birthday. The late Kirit Patel and brother JC Patel first bought their pharmacy in Southborough in 1975.
The Day Lewis Community Engagement Week and all fundraising for local charities has always been something core to the family.
In memory of the passing of our co-founder Kirit in 2016, his family set up the KCJC Foundation with the mission to support local charities in our communities.
Community Engagement Week in our Support Office
At our support office our colleagues come together for a fun day to raise money to support our local communities. From raffle prizes, fancy dress, face painting, manicures, table tennis & basketball tournaments, nearly new stalls + much more.
This year Day Lewis raised £24,400 for local charities. Thank you to our colleagues, patients, and suppliers.
Jay, Rupa and Sam’s favourite moment from our community engagement week is when they threw wet sponges at their dad.
Community Engagement Week in our pharmacies
Our pharmacies are empowered to pick a local charity to support. The teams go above and beyond throughout the week to fundraise, through fancy dress, donation boxes, decorating the pharmacy + much more.
Message from the family
Giving our colleagues the opportunity to be creative, have fun, raise money and awareness for local charities of their choice is the highlight of our year. It is inspiring how much passion our teams have for doing good and this is just one shining example. – Jay, Rupa & Sam Patel
Throughout the years we have supported hundreds of local charities across the country. At our Support Office, we have been supporting a local charity, Legacy for which Day Lewis is a founder patron. For more information about the charity click here.
Message from Legacy
‘As one of the earliest adopters of Legacy, we can’t thank Day Lewis enough for believing in us from the very beginning. The whole Day Lewis team has always gone above and beyond for Legacy, from being committed Founder Patrons, to organising incredible Golf Days and even abseiling down buildings! Your generous support over the past 4 years has provided the vital funding needed to enable thousands of young people in Croydon to have access to expert youth work and be given the opportunity to become the best version of themselves. Thanks to you, over 11,000 young people have been able to walk through Legacy’s doors to access a safe, inspiring place to learn new skills, engage in positive activities, and thrive. Thank you!’ – Milena Clamp, Head of Fundraising
