What is type 2 diabetes?

Type 2 diabetes is a common condition that causes the level of sugar (glucose) in the blood to become too high, because the body is not able to effectivity respond to the insulin produced.  This can be managed by taking tablets and maintaining a healthy lifestyle.

Symptoms of Diabetes:

  • Feeling thirsty all the time
  • Very tired/lethargic all the time
  • Peeing more than normal (especially at night)
  • Itchy around genitals
  • Blurry eye sight
  • Cuts take longer than normal to heal

Who is most at risk?

  • Ages 40>
  • If you have diabetes in the family (closely related, like parents)
  • Overweight
  • Of Asian or African background
