What is Monitored Dosage System (MDS)?

MDS is a medication management tool which is prepared by a pharmacist to organise a patient’s oral medication according to the day of the week and time of day it should be taken. MDS is also referred to as a blister pack.

Our pharmacist will fill this tray with your specific medication. The trays are easy to open so the patient doesn’t need to pop open multiple medications from several packets and reducing the risk of missing any medication.

Who is MDS for?

MDS is suitable for several types of patients:

  • Those who are on several medications
  • Who find it hard to remember to taken what pills and when,
  • Who have restricted use of their hands through conditions like arthritis, Parkinson’s Disease + more
  • Who are partially sighted
  • Who have a complex medicine regimes

MDS is a secure way of ensuring that a patient has timely administration of their medication throughout the day.
