Out of Hours Pharmacy

If you run out of medicines outside of your GP surgery’s opening hours, you can visit NHS 111 online or by phone. NHS 111 will assist you in an emergency situation and will refer you to your preferred pharmacy to obtain a small supply of your medicines. You will pay the usual NHS charge, unless you are exempt.

Our pharmacies can also provide you with an emergency supply of medication directly, but may charge for the cost of the medicine supplied.

In both cases, when you come to our pharmacy for an emergency supply of medication, you will be assessed by our pharmacist to find out:

  • If you need the medicine immediately
  • Who previously prescribed the medicine
  • What medicine you need and the dose that is appropriate for you

Only a limited range of medicines can be supplied as an emergency and there are also limitations on the quantity dispensed, due to legal constraints. For more information visit your local Day Lewis Pharmacy.
