Period Pain Relief Treatment

What is period pain?

Period pain occurs as part of your menstrual cycle, caused by the chemicals called prostaglandins, released by the body to encourage the womb to contract more to help remove the thickened lining of the womb. These contractions are usually felt as painful muscle cramps in the tummy, which can spread to the back and thighs.

These cramps range from mild to moderate, to severe where the pain can stop you from daily tasks. If your periods are extreme and unbearable, don’t ignore it. Please speak with your GP to investigate it further.  Some period pain can be caused by an underling medical condition which is why it’s important not to ignore it.
